The town and country planning department of Haryana has extended the deadline for regularising unauthorised constructions, which fall within 30m of national highways and scheduled roads in Panchkula, till September.
There are around 1,400 unauthorised constructions in Panchkula. The department said it was the last opportunity, which was extended in public interest for buildings that were built before January 3, 2009.
According to the Punjab Scheduled Roads and Controlled Areas Restriction of Unregulated Act, 1963, no construction is allowed within 30m of national highways and scheduled roads, except petrol pumps and bus queue shelters. An amendment was made in the Act in 2009, following which the owner of a building could apply to the district town planner (DTP) for regularising his building, if constructed before January 3, 2009, but it received a poor response.
The government then started taking action against these constructions, but now another chance has been given to them by extending the deadline. The earlier deadline was March 21.
According to a notification issued on March 21, the application has to be accompanied by requisite plans, documents and photographs. After that a committee comprising the DTP, a representative of the deputy commissioner (not below the status of an HCS officer), executive officer of the local body concerned and executive engineer concerned of the public works department (building and roads branch), Haryana, will scrutinise the application.

{{/usCountry}}If the committee is satisfied, the applicant has to deposit Rs 600 per sqaure metre for a structure located on the national highway and Rs 350 per square metre for structures on scheduled roads within a period of 30 days from the date of the notice.
If the applicant fails to submit the application or the prescribed charges, his building would not be regularised.
