The political rhetoric raised by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kisan Morcha president Om Prakash Dhankar during his two-day foot march from Rewari to Rohtak last month to woo farmers failed to impress union agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh as the latter remained non-committal on all the key issues the former had raised, on Saturday.
The BJP parliamentarian from Bihar's Purvi Champaran constituency, Radha Mohan Singh was chief guest at the two-day brain-storming session of the Kisan Morcha at Bahadurgarh town in Jhajjar district.
Dhankar, who also contested the Lok Sabha poll from Rohtak had claimed that if the Narendra Modi government comes to power at the Centre, pro-farmer decisions like the implementation of the MS Swaminathan Commission report and better MSP for crops would be taken up in the initial days after the government formation.
The BJP Kisan Morcha chief had also promised that thousands of acres of land acquired by the state government in the name of setting up Special Economic Zones (SEZs) would also be returned to them with the intervention of the Centre.
However, the union agriculture minister, in his over 45-minute speech while addressing the farmers on Saturday, did not touch any state-centric issues, which Dhankar had been raising and taking on the state Congress government by dubbing it an 'anti-farmer' regime.
