In protest of some ostensibly detrimental decisions arrived at by some senior members of the Mohali Property Consultant Association (MPCA), a new association with the name of Mohali Property Consultants Welfare Association (MPCWA) was forged on Saturday.
In the last general house meeting of the MPCA, a few senior members had taken some negative decisions, not acceptable to the majority of the association.
What stoked the fissiparous idea were the appointment of election commissioners, extension of time limit for depositing the annual membership fee, postponing of election to benefit a certain candidate without taking others into confidence, and allowing a favourite party to continue campaigning even though the last date had elapsed.
Members expressed their protest in Saturday's meeting. AK Pawar, one of the candidates in the elections, criticised the MPCA for favouring men of money and making it impossible for a common member to contest. This state of affairs, he said, was detrimental to the interests of the MPCA.
In consonance with Pawar's observations, members decided to form a new association. The first general house meeting of this newly-established association would soon be held to elect the president and other functionaries.
