It is a completely story-based film wherein every scene is integral,” says Saxena and adds, “The story revolves around this boy living in Canada who starts dreaming about Patiala, even though he has never been out of the country. It is based on the true story of a Canadian NRI.”Talking about his role in the film, lead actor Sarwar Ahuja says he plays a Canadian born Punjabi, a flamboyant and happy-go-lucky character, the way most Punjabis are portrayed overseas.

Having acted in three Bollywood films and TV, Patiala Dreamz marks his debut in Punjabi cinema, says he, “It feels good to enter the industry, considering I was born into a Punjabi family; according to me, good films always work irrespective of their language.”

Sardar Sohi who plays the villain in the film is of the view that the film is different enough to hold people’s interest and is not a run-of-the-mill generic comedy, something that the entire cast is fairly insistent on.

His character in the film is a very hardcore villain who is not sympathetic towards anyone. “This is one medium of showing the society what is going awry, as they can only look at a negative character to truly understand the wrongdoings happening around us,” says Sohi.
