Drunk driving: Another repeat offender's licence suspended

Chief judicial magistrate Rajnish Kumar Sharma on Thursday, suspended the driving licence of Bhupinder Singh, resident of Phase 10, SAS Nagar, for a month as he was challaned a second time for drunk driving.

Chief judicial magistrate Rajnish Kumar Sharma on Thursday, suspended the driving licence of Bhupinder Singh, resident of Phase 10, SAS Nagar, for a month as he was challaned a second time for drunk driving.


Bhupinder, who was earlier challaned for drunk driving on July 8, was also made to stand till the court's rising for the day and fined Rs 3,000. He is the fifth person in the past one month to have faced this strict punishment for drunk driving. The police have lately been attaching the previous record of motorists before sending their challans to court.

On October 25, a court here had suspended the driving licence of Khushnihal, a resident of Sector 35, Chandigarh, after he was challaned for the second time for drunk driving. On October 19, the court had suspended the licence of two Phase-1 residents, and on October 17 a court had suspended the vehicle registration certificate of a Sector 69 resident.
