e-Governance training programme concludes

A three-day specialised e-governance training programme for officials of various departments of the Chandigarh administration concluded here on Wednesday. The training was organised by the department of Information Technology, Chandigarh administration, in collaboration with National Institute for Smart Government (NISG).

A three-day specialised e-governance training programme for officials of various departments of the Chandigarh administration concluded here on Wednesday.

The training was organised by the department of Information Technology, Chandigarh administration, in collaboration with National Institute for Smart Government (NISG).

The programme acquainted the participants with structured approach for e-governance initiatives, different phases of e-governance project development lifecycle, how it can be undertaken to realign service delivery with citizen focus and improve transparency, accountability and trust in the government.

IT secretary Prerna Puri said, “Chandigarh administration is actively working towards implementation of e-governance-based mission mode projects under the government of India's National e-Governance Plan. In order to efficiently manage these projects during the implementation and beyond, the officials of Chandigarh administration need to be aware about current project management techniques, government process re-engineering etc.” “This training has been designed to cover all these aspects. The attendees at the workshop are the ones associated with e-governance projects in their respective departments,” she added.

More than 20 participants from directorate of health and family welfare and other departments such as education, finance, excise and taxation, urban planning, police, municipal corporation, deputy commissioner office, food and supply, election, society for promotion of IT and social welfare attended the training programme.
