Additional district and sessions judge Kanchan Mahi on Monday acquitted eight persons in the case of gang rape of a 17-year-old girl from Delhi after the latter turned hostile. The girl's mother too turned hostile during the proceedings.
The girl, a student of Class 12, was allegedly brought from Delhi on pretext of providing her admission in an airhostess course. One Rakesh Dahiya had reportedly told the girl that he ran an airhostess training institute in Sector 34, Chandigarh, where she would get admission.
Police investigations revealed that Kartik, a resident of Malviya Nagar, New Delhi, allegedly sold the girl to Virender Khanna, who further sold her to Rakesh Dahiya.
On August 22, 2011, Rakesh and the girl reached GH 79, a housing society in Sector 20, Panchkula. In the evening, they left for Shimla with three others. During the stay in a hotel in Shimla, the girl was allegedly gangraped by Dinesh and Gandhi (the name as mentioned in the FIR).
The girl was brought back to Panchkula on August 23, 2011. As per police, when the girl insisted on going back, Rakesh, Uttam, Pankaj and Uma Koirala, who were also present in the flat stopper her.

{{/usCountry}}After she started shouting on the top of her voice that she was being kept forcibly there, neighbours called police. A case was registered on August 24, 2011.
On Monday, the court acquitted Kartik, Virender Khanna, Dinesh, Gandhi, Rakesh, Uttam Chhatri, Pankaj and Uma in the case.
