Eight months after she lost husband, Sunita awaiting compensation

Sitting at her house in Bapu Dham Colony, Sunita said, “I was promised a permanent job after the death of my husband. But I have been employed on contract.

My husband had been regularised only two months before his death. When he got regularised, I thought now life will be better. But my world came crashing down soon.”

Sunita said she was promised a regular job after six months, but was still working on contract basis. She didn’t even get the Rs 4-lakh compensation as promised.

“We used to leave the house together in the morning. My husband would drop me and leave for his job. I used to work as maid in Sector 26.

That day, after dropping me, he promised to come and pick me. I kept waiting till 11.30 am but he did not turn up. Then I got the news of his death,” she said.

How will I raise my kids at a meager income of Rs 7,700 per month? Had my husband been alive, things would have been different,” Sunita said.
