Police on Tuesday booked an employee of Maya Jewellers, Sector 7, for allegedly decamping with gold and diamond ornaments worth Rs 10.90 lakh from the showroom.
Manager of the jewellery shop, Preeti Sachdev, told the police that Sunil Verma, a resident of Pipli Wala Town, Manimajra, worked at the showroom for the last two years and would take jewellery for repair and polishing to a gold smith at Manimajra.
On March 2, she said, Verma took the jewellery to the gold smith at around 10.30am and never returned.
Following this, the staff of the jewellery store went to the Verma's rented accommodation, only to learn from his landlord that he had left leaving behind his scooter and some belongings.
Verma has been booked under Section 381 (theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master) of the IPC at police station Sector 26 and have initiated investigation in the matter.
