Erratic weather conditions persisted in Himachal as western disturbance (WD) over northwest India brought light to moderate rain along with thundershowers, snow and hailstorm in parts of the state during the last 24 hours.

Erratic weather conditions persisted in Himachal as western disturbance (WD) over northwest India brought light to moderate rain along with thundershowers, snow and hailstorm in parts of the state during the last 24 hours.

The erratic weather condition persisted in many districts of state as Chamba, Solan, Shimla, Kullu, Kinnuar, Mandi and Hamirpur districts received thundershowers accompanied with hailstorm, snow and low speed winds.

Higher reaches of Kullu, Chamba and Kinnuar received light spell of snowfall resulting in cold conditions in lower areas. The apple crop in upper Shimla and Kullu districts was lashed by hailstorms causing damage worth many crores of rupees.

Chamba experienced 16mm rain, Kheri and Kandaghat in Solan 15mm each, Gohar in Mandi 12mm, Kasauli in Solan and Seobagh in Kullu 11mm each.

Shimla, Dalhousie in Chamba received 10mm rainfall each and Saloni 9mm, Kahu in Hamirpur 8mm, Bhuntar in Kullu, Rampur and Theog in Shimla 6mm each, Kumarsein 5mm, Kalpa in Kinnuar, Jhungi in Kullu and Arki in Solan 4mm each and Solan 3.4mm and Manali 2mm.

The Met office has forecast rain or thundershowers in few places in middle hills and part of plain and rain or snow in few part of higher reaches.
