In this year’s HT–C-fore survey, schools were also ranked on the extra-curricular and sports activities they organise, and life skills they provide to students. In sports, St John’s High School, Chandigarh, topped the chart, while Hansraj Public School, Panchkula, and Yadavindra Public School (YPS), SAS Nagar, were second and third, respectively.

St John’s High School topped the list for offering an array of sports activities like gymnastics, chess, football, golf, tennis, horse-riding, badminton and archery. St John’s High School student Krishna Pandit, a national-level football player, said, “It is all due to my school that I have been so focused and achieved so much in sports.”

Extra-curricular activities, which happen to groom a student when it comes to taking the stage and public-speaking, too, have been given priority in the HT–C-fore survey this year. St John’s High School — also ranked the overall best in tricity— yet again tops the list in the parameter of extra-curricular activities by scoring 82 points on a scale of 100.

Carmel Convent School, Chandigarh, by scoring 81, comes in a close second, while Strawberry Fields and Vivek High School, Chandigarh, are joint third. The parameter of life skills’ education, however, has a new name in the top position: St Anne’s Convent School, Chandigarh, has been ranked first; it scored 41 out of 50.

Carmel Convent School, which has a sprawling campus in Chandigarh’s Sector 9, is second. There is a tie for the third rank in the parameter of life skills’ education: St John’s High School and Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh, are a joint third; both the schools scored 37 on a scale of 50.
