The Haryana government plans to set up a 2X750 MW gas-based power plant at Faridabad and a coal based 660 MW supercritical unit at Yamunanagar during the 13th Five Year Plan (2017-2022), state power minister Capt Ajay Singh Yadav said here on Wednesday.
He said that it had also been decided to setup a 660 MW unit based on supercritical technology at Panipat in place of existing four units of 110 MW each. The Haryana Power Generation Corporation Ltd (HPGCL) has purchased 91 acres of land for setting up of the gas-based plant in Mothuka village and Arwa, in Faridabad.
Stating that the gas requirement for the proposed project was assessed as 7.5 MMSCMD (million metric standard cubic meters a day) natural gas, he said that ministry of power had already recommended an allocation of 2.8 MMSCMD of natural gas for operation of one unit of the proposed project. He said that the issue of providing coal linkage for setting up of a 660 MW supercritical unit at Yamunanagar was being expedited.

{{/usCountry}}Capt Yadav said that the existing units number 1 to 4 of 110 MW each at Panipat were old and the power generated by these units cost about 5.25 per unit whereas cheaper electricity was available from the other projects. It had thus been decided to phase out these units and setup a 660 MW supercritical technology unit at Panipat, he said.
