Giving a twist to the dispute over inheritance of the property of Maharaja of Faridkot Sir Harinder Singh Brar, Gurpreet in January had moved an application to this effect. Gurpreet had said that Amrit Kaur, the Maharaja’s daughter, had on February 14, 1996, entered into an assignment deed for a total consideration of Rs 65 lakh, which was paid to her. The application mentioned that a general power of attorney was also registered.

Gurpreet said that as per the deed, he would get a major share in case the suit challenging the will, by which the Maharwal Khewaji Trust was made caretaker of Maharaja’s property, was decided in favour of Amrit.

The court adjourned the hearing of the appeals challenging the order by which the court had made the Maharaja’s daughters legal heirs to his Rs 20,000-crore property to August 4, when the court is expected to rule whether Gurpreet can become a party or not to the ongoing dispute.
