Finally, water-logging problem in Panchkula reaches boardroom

After detailed discussion, it was decided in the meeting to constitute a coordination committee with mutual understanding. In the committee, sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Dera Bassi, Sanjeev Kumar, and SDM Panckula, Hema Sharma, tehsildar of both states and the executive officer of the Zirakpur local body have been included.

It was also decided in the meet that the demarcation of the drain which flows between Sector 19 and Zirakpur would be made within one week and after that it would be concretised.

NK Sharma said when the drain had chocked, water flows into the Punjab territory created major problems for the people living in the border areas. Besides, it spread of diseases in Baltana, Saini Vihar and Harmilap Nagar colonies. Keeping in mind this fact it was imperative to solve this problem amicably and permanently, he added.

It was also decided in the meeting that the liquor vend which had been set up on the drain by the Punjab would be removed immediately.

While expressing his gratitude towards NK Sharma for taking initiative, Phulia said Panchkula and Derabassi administrations would jointly launch a drive to remove encroachments on priority basis.

He directed the officers to start the work of demarcation of the nullha immediately so that next course of action could be taken.
