One of the four occupants of car who fired on police party before Dappar Toll Plaza on Ambala-Chandigarh highway during Nakabandi on Sunday night, was arrested by Police.
The car was signalled to stop at Naka but accused fired on the police party and tried to escape from the spot. Police have recovered a Japan made revolver alongwith five live cartridges besides Alto car.
SSP Gurpreet Singh Bullar said the police party led by Lalru SHO Gurbant Singh had installed a Naka at Gholumajra T-point. The team signalled an Alto car, coming from Derabassi side to stop but instead of stopping the car, they fired a shot on the police party and ran away.
Noticing ahead toll plaza at Dappar, they abandoned the car and tried to escape with arms but police managed to nab one of them. The arrested accused has been identified as Binder Singh(22), son of Roshan lal of Kuranwala and also recovered Japan made .38 bore revolver loaded with five cartridges. Binder had disclosed that the accused who fled from the scene included Sunil kumar son of Fateh Chand resident of Kheri Gujjran, Dara Singh son of Dharm Singh, resident of Toganpur, Kala resident of Manktabra in Haryana.
Police have registered a case against all these accused under section 307, 353,186 and Arms act. During the investigation arrested accused admitted that they belong to Gunjan group. Sunil and Binder have criminal record and already booked by Derabassi police in different criminal cases. SP Anil Sharma said the accused was produced before DErabassi court from where sent to police custody for two days.
