A dead foetus has been found at Mahabir Dal Charitable Hospital in Karnal on Wednesday morning.
The foetus, whose gender could not be ascertained by local doctors, was first spotted by a sweeper in a bin near the labour room.
Chief medical officer Dr Shiv Kumar told the Hindustan Times in the evening that a five-member team of doctors from the civil hospital was checking the hospital records.
He said after completing investigation, the local police would be informed for further legal proceedings.
"The foetus has been sent to the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Rohtak to ascertain its gender and exact cause of death," Kumar said.
On being asked about any CCTV footage available that could facilitate in nabbing the accused, he said the hospital had not installed such cameras.
