French university shows interest to work with PU

A University of Burgundy (France) delegation led by Pierre Deplanche, strategic intelligence, on Friday visited the PU and met vice chancellor (VC) Arun Kumar Grover and other officials of the university.

A University of Burgundy (France) delegation led by Pierre Deplanche, strategic intelligence, on Friday visited the PU and met vice chancellor (VC) Arun Kumar Grover and other officials of the university.

A PU spokesman said the University of Burgundy, France, has shown interest to have international cooperation in education, research and cultural exchanges with Panjab University (PU).

Franck Marzani from the research lab of the institute of technology and Cédric Demonceaux from the research lab at faculty of sciences and techniques were the other members of the delegation. Campus France coordinator, Embassy of France, Nidhi Chopra, was also present.

Dean research Lalit K Bansal, dean international students Ramanjit Kaur Johal, the Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC) coordinator Rupinder Tewari, dean science Naresh Tuli, centre for industry institute partnership programme, honorary director Sanjeev Kumar Soni, UIET director Renu Vig and other professors and officials also participated in the meeting.

Grover informed the delegation about the glorious history of the PU, and how the people of Punjab waged a struggle to set up the University in Lahore in 1882.

Pierre Deplanche said the University of Burgundy would like to have faster student exchanges, joint research projects, joint degree programmes and collaborations with the PU.

He added India was a new destination for the university. "We want to establish contact from faculty to faculty, college to college and school to school,"he said, adding we would brief the University of Burgundy on the available possibilities.

The French delegation visited the PU V-C office, University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), University Business School (UBS) and the department of computer science and applications.
