Guramit Singh Kalirai, an ex-spokesperson for the English Defence League (EDL), had fled court hearing and was sentenced in his absence last week for the robbery in Nottinghamshire.
The Metropolitan police had issued a warrant for Kalirai's arrest.

Kalirai, 31, of Bramcote, Nottinghamshire, in a lengthy Facebook post, said police had been "harsh" on him and said he would turn himself in only when he had a new lawyer.

"The police are playing a very harsh game with me for whatever reason, I decided not to turn up for the trial knowing this was not going to be a fair outcome," Kalirai said.

"I have been in touch with the Metropolitan Police and have agreed to hand myself in," he was quoted as saying by the International Business Times.

Kalirai, also a co-founder of the far-right group EDL, claimed he was innocent.
