Girls have outscored boys in the Board of Secondary Education, Haryana Class 12 examinations in Panchkula district, securing the top slots in the arts, commerce and medical streams.
MEDICAL
Deepshikha is the medical stream topper in the district with 92.8% marks. Her father Satish Kumar is police inspector in the district and her mother Suman works as a math teacher at a government school. “I’m waiting for my MBBS entrance test results. If things don’t work out I’ll enroll in the BSc program at Delhi University,” she said. A student of Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 7, she attributed her success to her teachers and parents.
COMMERCE
With 91.4% marks, Preeti Pawar stood first in the commerce stream. “I’d like to go in for BCom and thereafter become a chartered accountant,” she said. Her father, Ranbir Singh Pawar, is employed as a driver at the state agriculture marketing board and her mother,Krishna Devi, is a housewife. A student of GSSS, Sector 12A, she said, “My mom has always stood by my side and now I want to do something for her.”
ARTS
Simranjeet Kaur notched up 90.2% marks in the exam, topping in the arts stream. “I’d wish to become a professor and plan to study for BA in Chandigarh,” she said.
Her father, Gurbachan Singh, is a priest in a gurudwara in Pinjore while her mother, Manjit Kaur, is a housewife. A student of GSSS, Karanpur, Pinjore, she says she did not take any tuitions.
Ramandeep Kaur, another arts student, scored 89.8% in Class 12 and stood second in the arts stream in the district. Kaur is a student at GSSS, Karanpur, Pinjore.

NON-MEDICAL
Parteek Saini of PC Senior Secondary School, Pinjore, is the topper in the nonmedical stream having secured 89.6% marks. Both his parents, Shamsher Singh and Indu, are school teachers.
