Govt colleges to have 'smart classes'

Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal has given his approval for setting up 'smart classes' in all government colleges of the state.

Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal has given his approval for setting up 'smart classes' in all government colleges of the state.

This decision was taken at Badal's meeting with officers of the higher education department at his residence late on Tuesday evening, a spokesman said on Wednesday.

Under this project, ultra-modern libraries and laboratories would be set up in these colleges, besides equipping classrooms with the desired technology.

Badal approved the allocation of Rs 5 lakh each under this project for all government colleges.
The chief minister also approved the opening of 'finishing schools' in the government colleges of Hoshiarpur, Tanda Urmur, Mansa, Bathinda, Tarn Taran, Jagraon, Patiala, Faridkot, Sunam, Gurdaspur, Ajnala, Dhudike and the Government Women's College in Ludhiana for imparting vocational and skill training to students in hospitality, airlines, sales and marketing, information technology (IT), networking and retail sectors.
