The Haryana government on Wednesday framed a policy for developing low density, eco-friendly colonies to discourage sporadic development of farmhouses in agricultural zones here.
A spokesman of the department of town and country development said that the policy aimed to promote planned development of low density, eco-friendly colonies with a focus on eco-friendly design principles.
He added that according to locational norms, grant of licences for the establishment of such colonies would be considered in agriculture zones of development plans at a minimum aerial distance of 500 metres from the existing urbanisable limit.
No such colony would be permitted in blocks notified by the central ground water board and restrictions on drawing ground water would be imposed, he said. The site should be in a compact block and no such colony would be per mitted in areas falling in the 500 meters setback of any national highway, he added.
He said that a minimum of 100 acres would be required to establish such colonies, adding that there would be no upper cap on the area.
However, no additional licences in continuation of a licence already granted for such colonies would be allowed, unless the applicant had another chunk of at least 100 acres for which additional licence application can be submitted, he said.
