Thus, the Utilities supplied 404.41 lakh units of more power to meet the growing demand of electricity in agriculture sector.

An official spokesman said here today that the present power supply schedule is 8 hours per day for tube well consumers, 14 hours for rural domestic consumers, 20 hours for urban domestic consumers and 20:30 hours for industrial consumers, respectively.

Against the announced schedule, the Utilities were supplying more power to the consumers daily in view of scorching heat, he said.

On June 19, on an average, electricity was supplied for 10 hours 30 minutes to tube well consumers, over 14 hours to rural domestic consumers, 22 hours 54 minutes to industrial consumers and 23 hours 11 minutes to urban domestic consumers, respectively, he said.

He said the projected demand of electricity from June to September in the State is 8,100-8,300 MW whereas the State has already arranged up to 10,600 MW power through long-term arrangements.

He said that the Utilities will ensure that more power is supplied to the rural domestic and tube well consumers on the next day if the supply is disturbed due to technical reasons so that these categories are compensated properly.

He also said the complaints regarding disruption of supply due to natural calamities will be attended on priority basis.

Instructions have been issued to immediately restore the supply in case of feeder breakdown, damage of distribution transformer and other technical reasons to avoid inconvenience to a larger section of the consumers, he said.
