The heat wave continued in the city even on Saturday with the maximum temperature recorded at 44.4°C and the minimum at 27.4°C. The maximum temperature in the city was 5°C above the normal temperature. According to the meteorological department, there would be no respite from the scorching heat. “The spell of the dry weather and the heat wave condition will prevail in city for the next four to five days. The maximum temperature in the UT is likely to cross 45°C and the minimum temperature will also see an increase,” said a Met official. In Punjab, Amritsar was the hottest with the maximum temperature at 46° C, five degrees above the normal, followed by Ludhiana at 45.5° C, three degrees above the normal.
