History-sheeter attempts suicide at Burail jail

A 25-year-old history sheeter, who was recently arrested on the charges of robbery, tried to commit suicide by swallowing broken pieces of bulb in Modern Burail Jail here on Friday.

A 25-year-old history sheeter, who was recently arrested on the charges of robbery, tried to commit suicide by swallowing broken pieces of bulb in Modern Burail Jail here on Friday.

The accused has been identified as Sonu alias Bakri, a resident of Manimajra.

Giving details, DSP (south) Surjit Malik said the accused broke a bulb of his barrack and swallowed broken pieces. The guards on duty were informed and the accused was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, where his condition was stated to be stable.

The police have registered a case of attempt to suicide under section 309 of the Indian Penal Code at the Sector-34 police station.
