Get set to stick a poster of Priyanka Chopra - the rockstar on your bedroom wall. The actor-turned-singer is ready with her debut music album, and the first single releases in less than a week.

Donning a calm posture belying any jitters before the international launch that co-incides with the release of her film Barfi!, Chopra says, "I learned how to sing even before I said my ABCD. Music was a big influence in my life. But when, during the shoot of Saat Khoon Maaf, Universal (the record label) approached me to do the album, it felt out of the blue. I gave it a shot because I am open to doing different things," she says.

Besides all the nervousness, there's hope. "I want the world to taste the flavour of India and my music will have it. I'm taking the leap of faith. I hope people are proud of me. I've given my heart and soul to this album. I am putting myself out there and hope the way India has supported me in everything, they will come onto this journey, too, with me."

Her own journey, PeeCee says, wasn't easy. "There were times when I was thrown out of films because someone else came with a recommendation. I couldn't do anything about it. So I just grabbed every opportunity I got. In my first film, I come after the interval and die before the climax. That's the kind of role I had in my debut."

Well, now that she's tasted stardom, what does she say about fellow actor Kareena Kapoor's catty remark that the latter's film Heroine is bigger and better than Priyanka's National Award winning film, Fashion? "I am very proud of Fashion. It's my career's best. Hope Kareena gets a chance to experience what I did with Fashion." We ask if the two are friends. "She's a colleague, but no, we are not friends," she says.
