The Indo-Swiss Training Centre of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research -Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIR-CSIO) organised its 49th convocation on Saturday.
Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, SS Mantha was the chief guest on the occasion. While delivering the convocation address, Mantha informed the gathering that in the recent years, India had made significant progress in providing higher education. He said the growth of any nation depended on the manufacturing sector and by providing skilled manpower to this sector, we could improve it.
He appreciated the role of the Indo-Swiss Training Centre in providing skilled manpower for the manufacturing sector. Talking to students, Mantha stressed upon the need for inculcating values through education system and advised the students to imbibe reading habits to gain worldly knowledge. He urged the students to develop a sense of passion for work by adopting new technologies without compromising with quality to sustain in the competitive world.
Director of CSIR-CSIO, Amod Kumar, highlighted the activities of ISTC and welcomed the chief guest. Chalking out the history of the success of ISTC, he described it as an institute of the time when industry in India was in its inception and in dire need of skilled personnel for the operation and maintenance of their machines at their very premises.
Kumar said ISTC catered to this need of the industry at that hour and they were proud that till today, they were doing it with the same spirit. He advised students to be honest and do hard and quality work to achieve greater heights.

{{/usCountry}}Principal of ISTC, R C Agnihotri, informed the gathering that almost all the students, except those choosing for higher education, had been placed.
He informed the centre had produced 3,299 graduates so far.
