The old age pension issue came for discussion in the House through Call Attention motion moved by INLD members Ashok Arora, Rampal Majra, Parminder Dhull and Rajpal Bhukhri who expressed concern over irregularities and discrepancies in the distribution of old age pension.

The INLD members pointed out that under the scheme, several eligible people were not getting the pension while a large number of ineligible people were the beneficiaries.

Congress MLA Anand Singh Dangi also demanded that the provision to show the income declaration certificate for getting old age pension be withdrawn.

In her reply to the motion Social Welfare Minister Gita Bhukkal said it was not mandatory to submit income declaration certificate for getting old age pension. The eligible people had to fill a form where they had to make a declaration about their income apart from mentioning their name and address.

There was no need to submit an income certificate separately. Parliamentary affairs Randeep Singh Surjewala said a false propaganda was being made in this regard by opposition parties.

Irked by her statement the INLD members staged a walk-out from the House.
