The Met department said approximately 48 mm rain was recorded in the past 24 hours till Saturday evening.

“The rain is likely to continue till Sunday evening. However, there is no possibility of heavy rain,” Meteorological department director Surender Paul told Hindustan Times.

He said after Sunday, there could be dry spell ahead. “Monsoon has partially withdrawn now.

Complete withdrawal is likely by month end,” he added.

The Met department attributed the rain to western disturbances and continuation of monsoon in central India. “It is a cumulative effect of western disturbances and influence of good monsoon in central India,” he said.

The temperature fell to 27.3°C on Saturday due to rain, six degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 24.6°C, four notches below normal.

The Met department said temperature was likely to rise by four notches on Sunday with light rain.
