Jeep stolen, recovered by chance, targeted again

Miscreants in Panchkula seem to be desperately after a certain jeep. First, the Mahindra Bolero was stolen on February 13, only to be recovered hours later in a fortunate turn of events for the owner. On Sunday, though, he woke up to the Bolero's windowpanes having been smashed.

On the night of February 13, Surinder Yadav, a resident of Sector 11 here, had parked the jeep outside his house. When he woke up the next day around 5am, he found the jeep stolen. He filed a police complaint.

In the afternoon, he received a call from a friend who asked him what he was doing in Barwala as he had spotted his jeep. Yadav told him the jeep was stolen, and asked him to follow it. The friend told Yadav that the jeep was headed towards Mouli. The police were informed, but the jeep did not stop when cops signalled the driver to stop.

Yadav, who runs a school in Raipur Rani, also informed his employees about the matter. "Luckily, my employees Sanjeev Kumar and Madan spotted the jeep and started following it. The police were also behind them," said Yadav.

On the night of February 15, Yadav even used a gear lock. But when he woke up on Sunday, the windowpanes of the jeep were smashed. "We have received a complaint and are investigating the matter," said the station house officer of Sector-5 police, inspector Malkiat Singh.
