JKNPP MLA moves privilege motion against revenue department

Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party legislator Balwant Singh Mankotia today moved a breach of privilege motion and contempt of legislature before the Speaker, state Assembly against the revenue department.

Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party legislator Balwant Singh Mankotia on Thursday moved a breach of privilege motion and contempt of legislature before the Speaker, state Assembly against the revenue department.

The Panthers Party legislator alleged that the revenue department officials supplied wrong information and misled the House in a reply given by the revenue minister to a question raised by him.

However taking serious view of the allegation by Mr Mankotia, Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone said strict action would be taken against the erring official and directed the secretary Legislative Assembly to ask officials concerned to furnish reply, an official statement quoted.

Mr Mankotia in his privilege motion said that legislature is the most sacrosanct institution in a democratic country and most sacred duty of all government functionaries is to ensure due compliance with all decisions taken in the legislature and to duly honour all commitments and assurances held out in the Legislative Assembly.
