Kaypee raises collapse issue in LS, demands adequate compensation

Congress MP from Punjab, Mohinder Singh Kaypee, today urged the government in the Lok Sabha to pay adequate compensation to workers who died in a collapse of factory building in Jalandhar on April 15.

Congress MP from Punjab, Mohinder Singh Kaypee, on Wednesday urged the government in the Lok Sabha to pay adequate compensation to workers who died in a collapse of factory building in Jalandhar on April 15.

Raising the issue under Rule 377 as matter of urgent public importance, Kaypee also called for a through inquiry into the entire episode.

The incident left 23 people dead and several others injured.

It occurred at around 11130pm on April 15 when labourers were busy manufacturing blankets in the factory premises when the four-storey building caved in.
