Khalsa Warriors defeated Punjab Thunder 59-57 in a nail-biting match, which went right down to the wire, in the World Kabaddi League at Prithipal Hockey Stadium in Punjab Agricultural University on Saturday.

Warriors, who registered their fifth straight win, started aggressively. Warriors maintained their early momentum taking a substantial lead of 11 points by the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter of the game saw Punjab Thunder making a comeback of sorts reducing the lead to just eight points (33-25). By the end of third quarter Warriors were sitting pretty with a nine point margin (48-39). But Punjab Thunder rallied in the final quarter with raiders Sultan Singh and Talwinder Singh putting in a brilliant performance. There was some confusion in the end with screens inside the venue showing game tied at 58-58 and it took the third umpire and several TV replays to separate the teams.

Jasmanpreet Singh of Khalsa Warriors won the point on the final raid of the match to give his team a win by a narrowest of the margin.
