After strangling his wife to death, a 33-year-old Kharar resident committed suicide by jumping in front of a train. He left behind a suicide note, claiming that his wife was having an illicit relationship with one person of her native village.

Kharar SHO Manjit Singh said, the accused Manjit Singh, a resident of Mundi Kharar, on Tuesday strangled his wife Paramjeet Kaur (30) to death. Later in the evening, he jumped to death in front of a train.
Manjit got married to Paramjeet around six years back and their relationship was not cordial. The couple has a six-year-old son, who is staying with his maternal grandfather.
The SHO said before marriage, Manjit had gone to Dubai and was working as a labourer there. He had spent a few months in Dubai even after his marriage and his wife had filed a case in the court, seeking maintenance. Both reached a compromise and started staying in Kharar. Manjit was unemployed and was looking for a job.
The SHO said the couple was staying separately from each other for the past one month. “We have registered a case against Manjit on the complaint of Jaswinder Singh, who is brother of Paramjeet,” the SHO said.

Suicide note
Manjit had left behind a suicide note that was found pasted on the wall of the room where his wife was staying: “I am fully conscious and have killed my wife as she was having a illicit relationship with a person of her native village. On Tuesday, her paramour had visited her and both had lunch together,” the suicide note read.
