With the Kullu Dussehra festival having made its mark in the Limca Book of Records last year, the district administration is now preparing to make the event even more stupendous this year to get a place and recognition in the Guinness Books of World Records.
Over 8,000 Kulluvi women dressed in traditional Kulluvi attire had presented a record-making performance at the historical Dhalpur ground in October last year to spread the "save girl child" message.
Addressing a press conference here at Bachat Bhavan, Kullu, deputy commissioner Rakesh Kanwar said, "This year, we will register 12,000 women from Kullu district to voluntary participate in the Kulluvi Natti during the Dussehra festival to make a Guinness record."
Registration for participation will begin on August 16 and continue till September 15 at panchayat and village level through anganwadi workers, while registration of students will be done through school principals, who can contact the deputy director of higher education.
Kanwar said, "We have also asked Kardar Sangh, Kullu, to ensure a show of traditional musical instruments of all deities at Dhalpur Ground, which in itself would be a splendid show."
He added, "We have also decided to bring out three publications during Dussehra festival - one related to visitors' account, second on travel that would comprise the landscape and cultural ethos of Kullu district and third on the cuisines of Kullu and other countries that are provided in the district."

For beautification of the Dhalpur ground, the district administration will provide wooden planks for resting statues of deities, including that of district's principal deity Raghunath, that is housed in Rupi Palace in Sultanpur.
The DC said those wishing to donate for the wooden planks could deposit Rs 7,000 with the district Dussehra committee.
Besides, the district administration will organise a fashion show of traditional Kullvi attire wherein only women from the district will participate. The winners will be awarded cash prizes totalling Rs 2.5 lakh.
"To popularise traditional cuisines of the district, a special market will be developed in the town to enable the people to enjoy the cuisines in a single place," Kanwar said.
Besides, the administration has set a target to sell 1 lakh lottery ticket costing Rs 100 each to increase its revenue for the Red Cross Society to help the needy.
Apart from this, a museum on the district's culture and traditions would be established at Dev Sadan to boost tourism in the Kullu.
