President Pranab Mukherjee, as advised by the Prime Minister, has accepted the resignation of minister of social justice and empowerment Kumari Selja, with immediate effect.
Mukherjee has directed that minister of railways Mallikarjun Kharge shall be given additional charge of the work of the ministry of social justice and empowerment.

On Tuesday, Selja had filed her papers after being nominated to the Rajya Sabha from Haryana by the Congress.
