According to information available, Kumar a resident of village Munna, took his wife Sunita to PHC Sandhwa Farala in Behram town after she felt extreme labor pain on Thursday morning. But when he reached at PHC, he was shocked to see that it was closed.

He then requested a passerby lady to help him and Sunita gave birth to girl child outside the PHC. Taking a toll of the situation the people around then called on the centre's security guard who opened the gate after which Sunita was taken into the hospital.

When questioned civil surgeon Ashwani Kumar Sondhi said that he had asked SMO Sujjo, Dr Rashpal Singh to make an inquiry into the incident and find out why the PHC was closed at that time.

Sondhi also said that there were only two staff members in the centre among which one was on leave.

On the other hand, when contacted, principal secretary Health & Family Welfare, Vinni Mahajan, she said that she was not aware about the incident and would look into the matter.

Terming the incident as shameful and violation of human rights, NGO 'Help' general secretary, Parwinder Singh on Friday, wrote to the state Human Rights Commission and asked to take disciplinary action against the irresponsible staff at the PHC.
