Revenue, rehabilitation and public relations minister Bikram Singh Majithia today said that Punjab was all set to become the first state in the country with total computerisation of land records within six months.
Interacting with mediapersons after taking over as revenue minister here in the second term of SAD-BJP government, Majithia said that the government had initiated the gigantic task to computerise all land records in its previous term.
He said 147 of the total 160 'fard kendras' have become fully operational and the rest 13 would be operational by September this year.
"We have computerised the land records of 11,500 villages and now every villager can get a copy of fard across the counter at a nominal rate of Rs 20 per page instantly," he added.
Majithia said he had issued directions to financial commissioner revenue to start helpline numbers in every district so that any villager can get any mistake in the land record rectified by reporting on this.
He said that the department has also started putting land records on the web so that any person can view the status of his land record sitting at home and get a copy on his personnel computer.
