Noticing a dearth of salons devoted to taking care of dainty hands and nails in the city, Harkiran Singha switched professions and opened Polish, a nail spa in Sector 8, Chandigarh.

Harkiran, 37, was a teacher at Vivek High School, Sector 38, Chandigarh, for five years before changing her profession. “I am a nails person,” she smiles, and adds, “and so I tried various places where nail jobs were done, but I was disappointed. Every time I wanted a good nail trend on me, I had to travel to Delhi or other metros. So this is how Polish, the nail spa, was born.”
Aiming to provide affordable luxury to the trend-conscious people of the city, Polish comprises of a team of five trained staff members, both manicurists and pedicurists.
The concept behind opening an exclusive nails spa, feels Harkirat, is for people to start paying attention to their hands. “Usually, big salons offer packages for the face, but hands and feet are forgotten. Since hands are most important after the face, they should be perfected and beautified now and then,” she suggests.
