Twenty-six years old Indian boxer Manoj Kumar is feeling dejected after he and two other pugilists were allegedly judged unfairly at the recently concluded London Olympics.
In Karnal on Sunday to meet his relatives, Manoj accused the "biased" Olympics organisers for being soft towards the English boxers.
Manoj, a gold medalist at Commonwealth Games, 2010, said that he was deeply hurt by the bias at Olympics, but hoped that the organisers of the mega sports event would learn a lesson after being exposed in public.
A native of Rajond town in Kaithal, the pugilist said that such malpractices should not be repeated to maintain the sanctity of the world's oldest games event.
"Sumit Kumar and Vikas Krishan too were judged wrongly even as we all had scored well against the opponents. It was for everyone to see that the Indian boxers were leading in their respective bouts but the match results showed otherwise due to an evidently wrong point system," he said.
The boxer said that the Indian team manager and the boxing coach objected to the decision of the judges there but to no avail.
"The English are prejudiced and in a habit of oppressing their opponents. The same attitude was exposed at the recent games where wrong tactics were adopted to win a game," he alleged.Asked if the Indian authorities should intervene, an evasive Manoj said that he, as a player, did his best and it was up to the Olympics authorities to take note of the reported wrongdoings in various matches.
