According to police officials, the incident took place on Friday morning when a traffic police constable, Surinder, was deployed on duty at the Sector 18/19 light point, along with a head constable.

The constable noticed an i20 car (HR-99PE (T)-0534) coming from the Sector-18 road. Two occupants of the car were not wearing seatbelts. When the cop signalled them to stop and asked for the car's documents, the driver initially stopped, but later sped away hitting him. He even dragged the cop along with his car's bonnet for nearly 40-50 meters.

The cop alleged that after he was dragged along with the bonnet, he slipped down, while the driver sped away. The cop was injured, after which he registered a complaint with the police.
