On a 17-year-old’s complaint that her father had been raping her since 2008 and the mother did not act even on her complaint, police have booked the parents. The complaint was recorded at childline number 1098 on Monday. It has also been alleged that the victim was forced to abort around four years back.
The father has been booked for rape and mother for criminal conspiracy as she did not thought it fit to intervene, in spite of knowing that her husband was raping her daughter.
On Tuesday, her statement was recorded before a SDM Kharar and she has now been sent to a child protection home in Jalandhar. The complaint was lodged on the helpline after the victim’s teacher intervened.
A team member of the childline Sheetal Saghotra said after receiving the call on Monday, a team led by her and Priyanka Kohli, arrived at the house with the police.
In her statement, the victim added she was the only child left with her parents, as her brother had committed suicide by hanging himself by a ceiling fan.
The police have booked the parents under Sections 376 (rape), 313 (causing miscarriage without the woman’s consent) and 120b (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC. Several sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO), 2012, have also been invoked.

Some samples of the victim have also been sent to chemical laboratory for detection of pregnancy and to establish evidence in favour of her complaint.
