Man killed, another hurt in road mishap

A 43-year-old man was killed, while another sustained severe injuries after the Maruti Alto car in which they were travelling rammed into the rear side of a truck going towards Dera Bassi railway overbridge on the AmbalaChandigarh highway on Saturday late night.

A 43-year-old man was killed, while another sustained severe injuries after the Maruti Alto car in which they were travelling rammed into the rear side of a truck going towards Dera Bassi railway overbridge on the AmbalaChandigarh highway on Saturday late night.

As per the police, Harmesh Singh (43), a resident of Tiwana village near Lalru, was employed with the farm house of Darshan Singh at Zirakpur. He, along with his friend Suresh of Gazipur, who was on the wheel, were returning from Lalru in the car. The car rammed into the truck after it applied sudden brakes on the highway.

Following this, driver Suresh and Harmesh, both sustained severe injuries. Both were rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital Sector 32, Chandigarh, where doctors declared Harmesh brought dead.

The driver along with the truck fled from the scene after the incident. Dera Bassi police have registered a case.
