Manisha murder case: Brother identifies three accused in court

Prosecution got a major boost in the ongoing trial of the murder of Manisha Singh Thakur, 20, daughter of Sector-22 Nukkar Dhaba owner, who had died of drug overdose, after her brother identified the three accused on Tuesday.

Rishab, son of Sector-22 Nukkar Dhaba owner Joginder Singh, recorded his testimony before the court of additional district and sessions judge Anshu Shukla and identified the three accused.

"My sister had gone with accused Dilpreet in the car in which other accused were also sitting on the day she went missing," Rihab told the court on Tuesday.

The court also recorded the testimony of Joginder, who said after his daughter, who was pursuing an architecture course from a Sector-34 institute, had gone missing, he had lodged a missing report with the police.

The case would now come up for hearing on March 13, when Joginder would be cross-examined and is likely to produce earrings which Manisha was wearing on the day she had gone missing.

While investigating her disappearance, police had zeroed in on her friend Rajat, 21, who told the police that he, Manisha, his friend Kamal, and Dilpreet, who Manisha was in a relationship with, were consuming heroin inside his car in SAS Nagar, when Manisha died apparently due to drug overdose.

The police claimed that Rajat, Kamal and Dilpreet panicked when Manisha died. The trio then put the body in the car, drove it to an isolated place near the Shambhu barrier, and dumped the body in a drain.

Rajat, a resident of Sector 51, is a student of the evening college at Panjab University, Kamal runs a dhaba in Sector 37-D and Dilpreet is studying interior designing.
