During a House meeting on Saturday, Mamta Mittal, councillor of Ward 16 that includes Sector 4, raised the issue again, saying that was a long-pending demand of locals and could be used for the welfare of residents.

MC executive officer OP Sihag, however, jokingly told Mittal to ask Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) to construct another community centre.

At present, MC conducts House meetings in the deputy commissioner's (DC) office. There is no separate office for the MC commissioner - charge held by DC SS Phulia at present - and joint commissioner.

The action-taken report tabled during the meeting said that the MC had got space in a Sector 14-based Housing Federation building. The report said that though cabins were being constructed in the Sector 14 building, there was still a need to retain the community centre. The Residents Welfare Association of Sector 4 had recently approached the Punjab and Haryana high court to get the community centre vacated.
