A militant was killed in a fierce encounter in Baramulla district of north Kashmir. Defence ministry spokesperson Lt Col JS Brar said here on Saturday that an encounter occurred during a search operation at Boniyar Uri last night during which a militant was killed.

He said the identity of the militant was being ascertained. Search in the area was going on.
