Minimum temperature rises in Haryana

Cold conditions relented in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh with the minimum temperature rising by four degrees above normal at some areas on Wednesday, even as fog enveloped a few parts of the region.

Cold conditions relented in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh with the minimum temperature rising by four degrees above normal at some areas on Wednesday, even as fog enveloped a few parts of the region.

The minimum temperature hovered between one to four degrees Celsius above normal in most parts of Punjab and Haryana, the meteorological office here said.

Adampur in Punjab was the coldest place in the region, with a low of 5.5° Celsius.

While Narnaul in Haryana settled at a low of 7° Celsius, one notch above normal, the minimum temperature at Amritsar and Ludhiana was an identical low of 7.8° Celsius, three notches above normal.

Hisar had a low of 7.9° Celsius, one notch above normal, followed by 8.4° Celsius at Karnal, 8.8° Celsius at Bhiwani, 9.1° Celsius at Patiala (Punjab), 9.6° Celsius at Chandigarh and 10.2° Celsius at Ambala, two notches above normal.

However, some areas in Punjab and Haryana, including Ludhiana, Patiala, Amritsar, Ambala and Karnal remained under fog cover.

The meteorological department has forecast cloudy weather with a rise in minimum temperature in the region.
