Miscreants make unsuccessful attempt to rob ATM at Sec 17

Some unidentified miscreants made an unsuccessful attempt to break an automated teller machine (ATM) of Syndicate Bank at Sector 17 in Chandigarh on Monday.

Some unidentified miscreants made an unsuccessful attempt to break an automated teller machine (ATM) of Syndicate Bank at Sector 17 in Chandigarh on Monday.

According to SHO Sector 17 police station inspector Ram Gopal, the accused managed to open the lid of the ATM with some tool, but could not break the locker. There was no guard at the ATM when the incident took place, he added.

The incident came to light at around 10am, when a person came to withdraw money and found that the ATM was damaged. The matter was reporter to the police and Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) team was also called to take samples from the spot. The inspector said that they would get the CCTV footage from the bank and will scan it.

The police are confident that the accused would be arrested. On the complaint lodged by senior manager of Syndicate Bank, Sector 17, Shashi Bhushan, a case of attempt to burglary under Sections 380, 457, and 511 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Sector 17 police station.
