Shinder Kaur cannot scream. If she could, she wants to shout out loud that the police have arrested the wrong people, and not those who actually molested her 13-year-old daughter, pushed her out of the bus and killed her.
“The four accused were young… I have been told that two of the persons arrested are elderly… the police have not taken me for identification,” says Kaur, who was pushed off the bus along with the victim, but survived with injuries.
Kaur, who is now is now recuperating at the civil hospital in Moga, further adds that the bus had only four or five people in it and not “jam packed”, as had been asserted by a witness.
The Hindustan Times also spoke to a man named Balwinder Singh, a resident of Gill village. Singh was present on the crime scene and says he had stopped the bus. “I was at a dhaba and managed to catch the conductor, driver and helper who were all young,” he says.
He says the conductor denied having thrown the girl and mother out of the bus, and instead said Arshdeep jumped off as she was insane. “Jadd asin pucheya ki je kudi kamli si te usne chhaal maar ditti, usdi maa tan theek si uh kiwein bass ton dig payi.... isda uss conductor kol koi jawab nahi si (we questioned the conductor that if the girl was insane and jumped off the bus, how did her mother fall off being sane... the conductor did not have an answer),” Singh says, testifying that there were only a few passengers in the bus, contrary to the police’s version of there being more than 45.

{{/usCountry}}“The police can get in touch with all the individuals who stopped the bus. Some were sitting at a dhaba on the main road while some were passing by and others were working in nearby fields. The police has chosen not to investigate as the matter involves the employees of deputy CM Sukhbir Badal’s transport company,” the witness said.
He said he also went to the spot where Arshdeep and Shinder lay after being thrown out of the bus and poured water into the victim’s mouth.
