This was disclosed by Punjab PWD minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon while reviewing the status of construction work along with officials.

He said the stadium would have world class infrastructure in 12 acres of land. He said that the stadium would have a capacity of 50,000 spectators besides a reserved sitting capacity of 200 VVIPs.

Answering queries of mediapersons, Dhillon said the world-class stadium would be equipped with the best sports infrastructure, including hi-tech changing room, first aid room, dope testing laboratory, restaurant, gym, canteen, fully computerised office and VVIP and VIP galleries.

He said that special arrangements have also been made for power services in the stadium.

Responding to a query, the minister said the SAD-BJP government was fully dedicated to encourage the youth towards sports by providing them best sports infrastructure, facilities and jobs in various departments.

He said that it was the result of SAD-BJP government's efforts that kabaddi had been recognised at international level.

Dhillon said on the pattern of Mohali, the Punjab government would also construct world-class hockey stadiums at Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Faridkot and Bathinda.

He said that nine multipurpose floodlit stadiums were also under construction in the state.
