Digging deeper in the murder of 21-year-old Amandeep Kaur, who was shot dead by her alleged paramour, the police have started scrutinising the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the Phase 5 market.

The police said the victim had been avoiding accused Gurmeet Singh’s phone calls for several months, adding that it was suspected that he or his accomplices kept a tab on the victim’s movement, and approached her right after she left her paying guest accommodation in Phase 5.
A senior police officer said besides the CCTV footage, they were trying to procure data of Phase 5 tower location from various telephone companies to work out whether several persons were involved in helping Gurmeet execute the murder.
Reminiscing the ill-fated day, the owner of a Phase-5 store, requesting anonymity, said they heard gunshots, following which he and his staff rushed outside to find a woman lying in a pool of blood, and another woman, who was later identified as the victim’s cousin, screaming for help. He said the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital in a private SUV with the help of police control room (PCR) staff.
